I am running the inventory on select subnets. only some of the computers in those subnets are making it into the inventory. any ideas on why the rest are not?

First of all, welcome to the community.

Could you provide some additional information? Are you getting any errors or unknown devices? How long has the scan been running, etc.

A couple of possibilities:

  1. There is a firewall preventing WMI communication

  2. Windows Remote Management is not enabled

  3. The credentials do not work

Spiceworks should tell you what kind of errors you’re running into for each computer not inventoried.

no errors. i run the scan often. it takes only less than 5 minutes to run. Perhaps as i am only inventorying 2 subnets. i check all devices/all to view what has been found. i also check all the other groups. the computers are just not there. there are a few things in the unknown area, but nothing i am looking for.

thanks for the suggestions. the computers I am looking for are imaged. there are 12 of them. 3 of them make it into spiceworks.

well it turns out some of the computers were not pingable. I have changed this and all is well.
