Last Day!

Well, it is the last day as the Director of I.T. at my current job. On to a new adventure / challenge / nightmare starting Monday morning.

Very grateful for finding the Spiceworks Community during my tenure at this job. The community here is second to none.

Excited about all the things we got done while I was overseeing I.T. at our institution. We deployed Nutanix for a hyper-converged infrastructure, moved all of our staff to Wyse P25 Zero-Cleints using VMware Horizon View, kicked our ASA to the curb and installed a Watchguard Firewall, put 39 new access points in the our student housing, upgraded all of our enterprise software (which hadn’t been done in years), lowered our yearly telecommunications cost by $60,000 / year, ran tons of new fiber-optic cabling, installed a backup generator, installed lightning supression system, got a reall RTO / RPO with SQL backups every 15 minutes, zero RansomWare infections and processed over 5,000 tickets. Awesome.

HAHAHA! Yes sir. I have plans to document the heck out of everything for a giant SW post at some point. Let me just say this: Every single member server (there are 7 or so) is a DC. Should be fun cleaning up.

Yes, but exiting the Higher Education space to go back to Primary and Secondary. Yikes. CIPA can be a nightmare, but we will make it happen.
