Hi everyone

I have decided to live to upgrade my 4.7 installation with the 5.0 Beta release the system upgraded without a hitch  All of the features I use like the exchange and SQL monitors are working perfect.

5 Spice ups

Helpdesk Auto Responses are not though :frowning:

Just remember Spiceworks wont support restoring data if it breaks or can’t be upgraded

Automatic Response are working for me.

Should I perhaps uninstall and reinstall from scratch and then restore data as oppossed to doing an in place upgrade, the only new feature I see is Purchases…

What version did you perform the upgrade from ? mine was one of the latest releases.

Same for me, upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0 and so far so good!!

Will have to test it now. Have fun guys!

No guts, no glory!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

If you don’t have the courage (I am assuming this was a courageous act) to do something, then you won’t get the results from having done it.

lol

Hi rhipkin,

Are you talking about the Helpdesk Auto Response Plugin? Or auto-reply email notifications? If it’s the auto-reply email notifications, I’d like to get more information on your environment. Could you answer the following for me?

  • Do you have any remote sites?
  • What protocols are you using in Settings → Email Settings (If it’s exchange, are you using 2003 or 2007, etc?)
  • Do you have “Notify Me” enabled in Settings → User Accounts for your admins?
  • Do you have “Template per Event” or “Template per Content-Type” enabled in Settings → Email Settings?

If you don’t feel comfortable answering this publicly, feel free to send me a PM.

Do you mean auto responses for remote helpdesks or plain single install?
We are aware of the issue with notifications to remote helpdesks. If it is a plain install, could you clear your mail settings and try it again? There have been a few changes to the Exchange connectivity and if you are using Exchange, we may need to look closer there.

My network is small compared to most, about 150 devices. Of course, I always back up first, but I always bring the beta into my live production. Since 4.6 I have not had an issue. Even this 5.0 went without any issues.

Currently my only draw back on my installation I see is the dashboard loads slower, 3 - 5 seconds, not really an issue. I leave spiceworks open pretty much 24/7.

No it’s the plugin, Help Desk Responses.

I have deleted and reinstalled the plugin but nadda, it’s not a train smash though, it will give me a chance to squeeze a little more ownership out of my techies

That’s precisely what I did  it’s reasurring to know I’ve got a backup plus manually copied data and db folders ready to go in case I need to go back to 4.7

Its good to see I’m not the only one who just upgraded straight away.
