We’re considering using Unitrends Forever Cloud for long term (1-5 years +) retention. We already have an appliance on site. Currently we are archiving via eSATA and rotating disks off site.
I am looking for thoughts specific to your experiences with the Unitrends Cloud, but if there are any suggestions pertaining to other cloud products or thoughts about using the cloud for long term retention in general, those are welcome as well.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for choosing Unitrends for your data protection needs! You may also want to check out this cloud cost calculator as you’re making you’re choices to determine which one is the best fit for your budget.
I’m sure that you already know that our Forever Cloud includes some specific features that you won’t find with any other cloud provider, namely flexible recovery options - Disaster Recovery as a Service, which allows you to spin up your clients in our cloud in the event of a disaster, prepopulating your data that is stored in our cloud onto a new appliance before it’s shipped if you ever lose your physical appliance to a disaster, and of course, infinite retention options, most of our Forever Cloud customers choose a retention period between 90 days-forever, so it is flexible to meet your needs. I’m sure some of your fellow IT Pros will chime in shortly, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of these unique features as you’re evaluating your options.

I wouldn’t say Forever Cloud includes DR as a service in the cloud because I believe that’s an optional feature with additional costs. I was unaware that it wasn’t included with my quote until I asked.
Agreed. which is why I made sure to include the words that I bolded below:
Thanks Katie. We have been speaking with Unitrends sales and engineering as to all the features of Forever Cloud. So far, it seems to be a pretty good option.
Thanks again.

Saleaway, did you end up going with the Forever Cloud option? If so, how do you like it so far?
Thanks!

I have not used it yet, have only been quoted. I’m currently with Veeam and was looking at Unitrends for other reasons. See my recent thread here: Using veeam but considering Unitrends for replication and cloud. Thoughts?
