It was decided at our Spicecorps meeting last night that we will meet again at the end of November or early December.

We need ideas for presentations and topics for discussion. Anyone and everyone is welcome to prepare something for the group or lead a discussion. We are also open to venue changes and sponsors who can deep dive into particular topics.

Please comment with what you are interested in and spice up the ideas you like.

Glad to see everyone there last night. I look forward to our next meeting. As I mentioned last night I am attending SpiceWorld in October and hope to learn all kinds of tips and tricks I can share with the group. I will post upon my return some ideas I would be happy to share with the group.

I would like to see some more VM talk maybe bring in a Virtual sponsor. More tips and tricks are great too. Also kevin I was interetsed in the Outlook script you are running to make an email into a ticket where did you find that plug in at?

Here is the link to the script I was talking about.

I have a couple contacts at Veeam if that would be a good option I can get Erik in touch with them and see where it goes from there.

I’ll +1 the VM talk. Personally I am more interested in VMWare, but there were some Hyper-v users in attendance last night as well. Unfortunately I don’t have a VMWare contact that could come down and speak.

Other possible options are Server 2012 (standard and datacenter), SAN’s (if anyone uses or recommends them), Wireless solutions etc.

I like VEEAM, however, I’ve never seen anything from a physically local rep.

We also have PC Connection on deck as a possible sponsor and they have in-house experts for lots of technologies.

I like the idea of PC Connection. That way the presenter isn’t really biased by one company or by their experience. PC Connection can give us a more open ended discussion with a few favorable suggestions of their experience.

Glad to hear the meeting in Manchester went well! I’d be willing to show up for one of the meetings and talk about Neverfail’s new IT Continuity Architect product sometime if ya’ll are interested. Architect helps to bridge the gap between business and IT in disaster recovery.

Thanks, Josh. I’m sure that backup and recovery will be a topics worth talking about very soon.

I personally would like to delve more into the reporting side of Spiceworks.

Being the PC Tech int he group I am kind of the odd man out in a sea of admins :stuck_out_tongue: You guys are awesome though.

Most of my suggestions are going to be the Helpdesk side of things.

Maybe something along the lines of What kind of forms do you use or dealing with day to day helpdesk issues. I guess more of a pick your brain for an idea I have not thought of yet.

If there is anyone in the group who uses reports extensively, maybe they can present.

Lauren said she uses reports and has a lot of flow type rules and things going on, maybe she would be willing to come to the next meeting and present as well?

Maybe we could get a Spiceworks U class up here so those of us that do not want to travel to Boston could get access to that.

I think just about everyone in attendance works for companies with a small team (under 5 people) who are actively handling tickets. There are some other groups out there, like HDI, who meet to talk about best practices for helpdesks. They might know of someone who’d be willing to talk with us about the broader topics of workflows, reporting, and ticket management.

If you have any contacts you can leverage, let us know what they say.

Hey guys! Todd here from Spice U. So glad you guys are talking about Spice U - brings a tear to my eye  So I’d be more than happy to talk to you guys about seeing if we could plan to have a Spice U class scheduled for your neck of the woods. To be honest, we’ve never been to New Hampshire - so it would be exciting to stop by!

Here’s the deal - if you guys can get at least 5 people who really and truly want a Spice U class we can get the ball rolling  We’ve got great courses that will address workflows, reporting and ticket management.

Feel free to email PM me or just respond to this thread with your thoughts.

Thanks Todd.

Is anyone else interested in this? I know of at least 4 from my group that would be interested.

I’m interested!
