Hi Everyone!

On March 19th, we will deploy Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk (CHD) employee accounts (admin, owner, tech, and manager). This implementation has been a much-requested enhancement and is one of several planned security improvements this year.

When a user logs into Spiceworks CHD, MFA passwords will be delivered via email, which users can then enter to access the CHD portal. There is no additional implementation or training required on your end. Activating MFA will secure all Spiceworks logins, including Community, Account services, and related tools and applications.

While not mandatory, MFA will be active by default. Admin users have the ability to disable MFA, but we highly recommend using this feature going forward. MFA has become the industry standard for user authentication and data protection, so we are pleased to offer email-based MFA to all CHD customers free of charge.

Should you experience any issues please contact us at support@spiceworks.com and we will address your concerns as quickly as we are able.

We are dedicated to keeping your data secure and will continue to make improvements throughout the year.

Thank you for continuing to support Spiceworks Cloud Help Desk.

Please consider using MFA apps, or M365 integration so we can use our existing MFA with Spiceworks.

Yes, like others said, please consider authenticator apps.

This is nice, but email is hackable. Having an authenticator app integration would go a long way to protecting data and making things more secure. Please tell us you have long-term plans to implement authenticator apps!

This is great news! Great start, next let’s go for either an authenticator or SAML SSO with Office365. Keep up the great work!

As many others have requested, please add support for TOTP, so we can use authenticator apps, as an alternative to email MFA.

Email MFA is really going to slow us down.

Hey Paul, it is active by default, but you can turn it off.

The old school code to email MFA method. I would have expected a tech platform like Spiceworks to have implemented an authenticator app option, but perhaps they’ll add this one day.

MFA by email, really? its 2025, MFA should be delivered via an App…

The good news for those of you asking about TOTP, that is on our roadmap. I don’t have a specific date for it at this time though. SSO / SAML 2.0 is also something that we are looking into.

This is GREAT news! Thanks so much for listening to your base!!

Codes delivered by email always have a delay, it’s nice to use an Authenticator app to get the code right away.
