Hi All, I really need help with this ,

is there any tool or a way as to how to get a Microsoft office key from a users PC.

I tried SIW, but it doesn’t seem to work on windows 7 & 8.

any suggestion,

I would suggest using KeyFinder | Magical Jelly Bean load that up and run it that will give you the product key for lots of your installed software.

Magic Jelly Bean will do what you require with the free version. Be careful with the install though, it will try to install ‘potentially unwanted programs’. That being said I typically only use it when the system in question is being retired and the hard drive has mere hours to live.

There are probably other, safer, better ways to do this, but this is quick and easy.

Edit I’m too slow

thanks a mil buddy , I just tried it ,

ProduKey offers similar functionality, minus the adware.

Also, what version of Office are we talking about? The ability of certain programs to read these keys varies with Office version.

That’s the tool I normally use as well.

its for office 2007 and 2010,

is there a way to check for the office keys on all Pc’s by just running a tool on our network.

i’m relativey new at this , this is my first day as a IT & Software support technician

Spiceworks (the product this community is build around) will conduct this as part of the regular inventory scans. It takes a bit to setup, but it’s free.

I just double-checked the ProduKey site. It will properly query an Office 2010 key. You’ll need to touch each machine to use it, however. Also, several antivirus programs will falsely ID ProduKey as malicious. You’ll probably need to put it on a server share and add an exception to your managed antivirus paths if you want to use it. I’m not sure if MJK has the same problem.

You can go to File, Select Source and choose a remote PC.

I’ve found the product keys from SW to be abit hit or miss, sometimes it works very well, other times not so much.

I have found ekeyfinder to be very useful. It is open source so no license fees.

the ekeyfinder works on windows 7 , but not on windows 8,

is there any other way to get MS office keys of a PC,

and how do I remove a safe-finder off a computer, this was installed when I tried to use the magical jelly bean software.

Here is a link to “free” license key finders.

So you will need to check to see if they are free for commercial use.

If you are working on home use computers BelArc is a very good solution.
