Alright, what is the best method to remove eset when a previous provided just ripped out licensing and management vs sending the uninstall command?

I understand that there is an uninstaller, but that does require safe mode boot…which doesn’t work for my customers that are thousands of miles away.

Can I rip it out the ole’ fashioned way? Remove files and Registry keys associated?

Are machines domain or azure domain joined?

Are you planning to install another product, if so, many other AV will remove their competitor products for you.

Download ESET AV Remover | ESET in case this isn’t what you mentioned. I don’t think this one needs safe mode.

This one does the Registry or remnants of programs uninstall: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download

Hello,

Computer security software typically has all sorts of anti-tamper protection to prevent malicious software from uninstalling it, so you are not likely going to be able to remove it with a scripted deletion of files and registry keys. As @rod-it noted, your best bet may be to see if the replacement security software will remove ESET’s software as part of their installation procedure, or to contact ESET for assistance.

You can uninstall from then apps menu, but you’ll probably need the uninstall password if set in the policies (may be a different p/w for the AV and the agent too).

Sadly for you your best option is the safe mode uninstaller - do a train the trainer on local hands?

I would suspect removing files and registry will just break things

So, SentinelOne doesn’t remove it. Granted, it does turn if off…but my users are questioning the Eset errors with licensing.

I’m gonna’ try the AV Remover. And we’ll see how that goes.
