The office is surrounded by water and the residential areas to the north, south and east of my residence are evacuated already.
We’re waiting around on evacuation standby but the water looks like it’s receding already so we’re hoping it was all just some extra excercise for us moving everything from the basement to the upper floor.

Wow and just when I thought our VPN/MFA is not coming back for 14k employees but slowly reconnecting.
Stay safe!

I was able to connect to my systems and check the security footage all night up to around 8am this morning (1.5 hour ago).
The I guess either my batteries all went offline around the same time or the internet went down.
It looked like the parking lot water was receding when I was last able to check.
One of my bigger clients was closed and their whole area evac’d yesterday. I was able to help them connect and pull some files for a little while until their power went out. They probably have 30 - 40 cm of water in their place.
Several others I was able to connect occasionally as the power or network connections came and went.
Here at home, the power has been off at least 7 times since yesterday.

Rough day, @shannonwheeler . First Sucker Creek (a ways to the west of you), now you guys. It’s been a crazy month even if not taking the pandemic into mind. We support federal health centres and it’s been hard for them too, trying to provide health services while also dealing with flooding. It’s like a double whammy all around.

I know I’m not the first to say it but:

And we’re also past our 90 day trial period so no more refunds on 2020. We’re stuck with it like a bad OS upgrade.

One of the really good reasons to have your data centre above the ground floor.
Hope everyone is safe there.

So, going along with your company name… you must be in Bonnyville…
So glad you’re safe! We had some big storms come through Texas last week as well. When it rains, it pours I guess (literally)

It could be worse.
In this market, I wouldn’t be surprised if the folks of Fort McMurray were up to their knees in oil.

Yikes, sorry. The weather sure has been crazy lately… my main office and data center has taken a direct hit by 2 tornados since February (EF2 & EF1), and a third about 18 months ago (EF2). To put this into perspective, we have not had any other tornados touch down in this county in more than 10 years prior. It’s crazy when you literally see vehicles picked up and dropped elsewhere right in front of you, shopping carts strewn miles away from the stores to whom they belong, paperwork from filing cabinets the next town over, and twigs stuck in the side of brick walls. But flooding goes on and on and on…
With oil at negative 40/bbl I thought the companies might ask employees to each take a barrel or two home.
Having a house in a “once in a hundred year” flood zone is pretty likely to bite you eventually.
We ended up getting the evac order at 11:57. The police were knocking on doors 10 minutes later. We were ready of course, now it’s a waiting game.

I hope you are doing OK. Just 2020 things.
I had to go look at a map to find Sucker Creek. You got me pegged I guess. That’s southwest of us.
As for Bonnyville, that’s about the limit of my service area…
(Actually, no limit, as long as people are willing to pay travel costs.)
Do I see ice in the pictures too?
