I have a specific flow where a Ansi X12 file is downloaded. right click the explorer entry and instead of selecting the default (Notepad) choose Open with… We’d like to click “Microsoft Integrated office” Its available but only results in (up until today) “you have a newer version of microsoft 365 and office installed” alert. Now it just reloads the dialog where you choose “Microsoft Integrated office”.

more background:

Since last Thursday (when we re-licensed MS-Off). We’ve had 2 errors. the first, most consistent, was “you have a newer version of microsoft 365 and office installed” . MS (via chat) said “run the repair patch” Did that. No change after reboot. Then, during the day today, an email came in with a invitation to install the MS-Off.

Well, we’d downloaded this module 6 times already, whats one more? esp. since it seemed like maybe it knew we’d patched things etc. and this is the final bullet.

re-install. the only difference now is when we select open with MS integ. Office the dialog just reloads.

I had uninstalled Off15 earlier today, and some attempts later, deleted the old MSOff folder. in \\Program Files.

I understand this is another item on the decades long list of MS consternation, but does anyone have 1st hand solutions or ideas for this?
