Looking at using Spiceworks for help desk and inventory. We are a school and the idea of saving money is appealing. However. Online inventory has no mass import, not sure why. Not everything is scannable. Not everything in a school is on at the same time or for long enough to scan. I just want to keep a manual inventory. We have 3000 chromebooks, 1000 iPads, 500 monitors, 300 projectors, 200 TVs, 400 Windows devices. Cannot exactly enter all that manually.

I would think this is easy to add and something that should be there anyway. Seems like they are forcing you to scan for some monetary purposes, shady.

To scanning feature is to keep things up to date, if you have a number of chromebooks, are they not already inventoried by way of Google or an MDM?

How do you figure this, all spiceworks products are 100% free of cost, not sure how you see this as shady, if the product isn’t fit for you, that’s fair enough.

If you want static, manual entry, look at SnipeIT, also 100% free, can be self-hosted on a VM or docker. If you’re not familiar with Linux, there are turnkey solutions as VMs.
