We have recently renewed our Ricoh MP6000 and MPC5000 to the new 6001 and 5501A respectively and have found that in Scanning to PDF the quality is quite poor compared to what it used to be. There seems to be a lot of levels you can adjust on the new ones but still can’t get as good a quality scan as the old ones. Has anyone else experienced this with the new series ?

3 Spice ups

try the DPI settings?

1 Spice up

Thanks

Yes, I’ve tried all the different dpi’s various settings for Black , Text etc.

The best scan quality i can get is when i use the colour option but then the file size is 3 -4 that of a black/white.

The scanned file make the text appear as if it bolded in places but not others and so looks awful

I should add it is the same result scanning to tif.

Just had the head technician in and try all the settings. He has escalated the problem and gone off with sample files and printouts etc as it appears to be in the new firmware and nothing he could do to remedy.

This is on the MP6001, MPC5501A & MCP3001.

Anyone out there using these new ones ?

an engineer applied a patch to the ESA Transformer Software v2 and all is working ok now.

We use one of these new Ricohs and have the same problem. Ours even changes numbers between 3 6 & 8. So a figure on paper could be 600 and in the scanned version it’s 800.

A big issue for us being accountants !!! As yet no reply from Ricoh - they were notified 9am this morning.

update.

We have had the software updated - we had version 2 now a patch has been applied, still not working. We have now been upgraded to version 3 of ESA software. Still having problems.
