Without getting into too many details, I have an external drive that was dropped. It held the backup of some rather important files. There is no way to recover from the original devices (this was the recovery of them). So, now I’d like to see if anyone has any recomendations for hard drive recovery services that they have used.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I’ve used @DriveSavers, Inc. in the past. Good service and they did a good job. Not cheap, but no good data recovery center is.

DriveSavers, they are awesome

Side note: On an external hard drive, you may find the drive is perfectly functional and it’s only the SATA to USB interface that’s messed up. Dismantling the drive enclosure won’t harm your ability to send it to DriveSavers should that be necessary … but it may save you $3k (or more) for their recovery services.

If you do decide to send the drive to DriveSavers, PM me for a referral number. It will save you the attempt fee and 10% off the final recovery cost.

That’s a good though, I will have to check that out.

Thanks, If I do I will keep that in mind!

Throwing our hat into the ring! Gillware lets you ship the device to us for free, where we’ll do a free evaluation and give you a firm price quote on the recovery. If the quote is okay with you, we’ll proceed with recovery and you only pay if we recover the data you want back.

PM me if you want some more details.

One thing to note on some external drives, some manufacturers do not use a sata to usb board, and instead build the USB port directly onto the hard drive. As far as I know it’s just WD that does this, but others may too.
