I have just connected a remote site to a central spiceworks installation. The site was authenticated to the central installation. When I go to the remote site page ( Settings and remote installation), I see the remote site listed. When I click the link, I always get ‘unable to connect’ Any idea why this is happening???

When you click your remote site, is it your browser telling you it can’t connect, or Spiceworks?
What is the URL it is trying to connect to; is it the IP or FQDN of your remote site server?

Are there firewall settings keeping you from connection through 443, or whatever SSL port you assigned (software or hardware)?
Browser is telling me that it can’t connect. The IE diagnose connection page. The address bar shows an IP address.
I don’t think so. The site was authenticated so I am assuming that 2 way communication has already been established through the existing firewall.

Is it an internal IP (via VPN or other private network) or a public one? How to do remotely connect to that machine you installed the RC on? What’s the address you use for that?
The remote machine is actually in another country.
I just noticed that the link from the spiceworks remote page points to the remote machine and port. I Tried that ip and port from a browser manually and could not get it.
Used online port forwarding tester to check the remote ip and port and it reported that it was closed.
Will have them open the port at the remote site and see what happens.
