I am attempting my first remote connection. I updated the server and remote site to latest version of Spiceworks. I disabled the firewall on both computers, not permanent just wanted to make sure I got a connection. On remote I enabled remote mode. I entered the server connection information. I get server is not responding? Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Are you able to browse to the Spiceworks install on the local site from the remote site? Can you open http://main_site[:port]/ in a browser?

It’s recommneded both installs be using the same port (e.g. 80, 9675, etc.) but it will work if they are not.

Can you ping between the sites?

I quick browse also mention the required ports you may need to forward. Sorry I can’t be much more help than that as I have not done this (yet).

It would make sense though, from your description that it might be all you need to do.
