I know there is the plug-in logmein connection. I was looking for something that would allow me to remote into someone else desktop for Free. Basically I could enter in their service tag and as long as they are connected to the network I would see what they see. I know about Remote Desktop for Windows. But that would log the person off their computer when I log in. I would like to see exactly what they see to help diagnose their problem easier. Or is LogMeIn the only option and would have to pay for their service after the trail period.

Logmein is free even in corporate environment, in fact they encourage the free version.

hey,
there is a program called VNC that can do the job for you, its a free program, i have used it at home a few times to access from college and it works fine, link is here
What about for commercial use? I know alot of free programs are good for personal use. But when it comes to commercial use they charge for a license.

You can also have them use Remote Assistance, if you’re using Win XP and above (maybe there’s something for Win OS’s before XP, but I know it was there and after). Anyway, the user generates a ‘cry for help’, you follow the link. It helps if you are all on the same network else you may have firewall issues. And, it kind of requires the user be at their desk to accept/allow the assistance when you try to connect.
We’ve used VNC, too, with plenty of success, but I typically only install this on some of our “shared”/“unmanned” computers in other locations - not on every single computer I deploy on the network.

how many computers are you looking at?
if you have quite a few, then Logmein would be better, they provide a web interface which you can also use to access remote laptops which we have used a few times and its free, i believe they charge for the higher end version of logmein pro, which you can do more, i.e. stream audio etc, but since you will only be doing helpdesk, etc you wont need the pro licence

LMI is 100% free. no string, no gotchas. It is called “LogMeIn Free” for a reason.

Has anyone used the NTRglobal Remote Desktop and plug-in? I was just looking it over via their web site at http://www.ntrglobal.com/free-cloud

hmmmmm…odd, logmein free used to say it was acceptable in commercial environment, now it looks like they have changed that. Has anyone here had any issues from logmein using it in a commercial environment?

We use Team Viewer, they have a free and a Enterprise version that is pretty inexpensive.
LMIn is free for NON-COMMERCIAL use. Although what MSouthWorth has posted for a link looks good. Has any one heard of it or used it before. They sound like a viable option

It looks like it may work for me. I like being able to have any user allow remote access via email or web link. I have signed up and will install the SW plug-in…let you know if it works!

Adam, I think you are incorrect. Although the link I put up does say non commercial use, I have been digging and digging and found that it is acceptable in commercial use. Here is a post on SW confirming that from someone at Logmein.

So, logmein free is acceptable for commercial use, we currently use it and have about 300 computers on the account.

The link I posted was actually for LogMeIn Hamachi Licensing which is totally different. My bad. So go ahead and give that a try, SW works nicely with it.
