I’ve been trying for a while to get a remote install set up at a client site. The spiceworks install on the client side is set up and ready. When I enter my central install’s IP in the address field, with port 443, I continue to get the “Server is not responding error.”

Should I be using a different IP address?

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

If you can’t ping the server, and your backup is not able to connect either, you should be seeing some serious errors on the central site side of things on the firewall or router or whatever you are using when these try to connect.

I would start by looking there and you can post any errors you are seeing.

Can you ping your server from the remote location? Can you access the web interface from the remote location?

Good questions. If you can’t access the central installation from your remote location it sounds like you will need to setup port forwarding through your main installations router or something similar ensure the proper connectivity.

{"@type":"Person
scott298
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/scott298"}},{"@type":"Answer

I cannot ping my server, but I think this runs a bit deeper. We use a remote backup client, and now it can’t connect either. It was fine last week. Any ideas as to what may be going on?

{"@type":"Person
brianhyman6401
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/brianhyman6401"}},{"@type":"Answer

Have you made any hardware or software changes recently that might effect connectivity?

{"@type":"Person
scott298
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/scott298"}},{"@type":"Answer

Please post your network setup, so we can see what you use: router, proxy or no one of them

Maybe it’s only the IP of your central server or the router in front that changed?

{"@type":"Person
tomkahle5400
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/tomkahle5400"}},{"@type":"Answer

I marked the best answer to shut this down. I need to fix the internal network problems we have before I can even BEGIN to try and remote connect. We have 2 different ISPs going to 2 different routers, 2 different switches, and 6 different workstations, so. Gotta make some sense of this mess.

Thanks for the quick responses everyone!

{"@type":"Person
brianhyman6401
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/brianhyman6401"}}]}}
