So, I received my renewal. Yikes, it is over 3300 because we are Central Premier.
What makes it premier? That I use host based configurations and One2Many feature. I also use Hamachi, and a few other things here and there.
Next year the renewal could be $6000. Seriously?
BTW, I had a 50 license, plus Central. I have 140 clients installed, but most were free.
So, I tested Bomgar and ScreenConnect. I like them both, but SC is cheaper.
The one thing that might influence my decition is something similar to One2Many. I need to deploy files to these remote machines. Some are 5 hours away, and opening sessions just to deploy the new wallpaper is too much of a pain. I also like the ability to restart services. We use DeepFreeze Enterprise on most of these machines and sometimes I need to restart the service remotely.
Now, I can live without them, but they make my life easier.

You’re in the same boat as a lot of the IT pros I’ve been speaking with. The ones that are really hurting are the MSPs that manage upwards of 1500 devices across many customers…yikes!
One option that we’ve put together recently for this use case is using Pertino (backbone virtual network) and SplashTop (cross-platform remote access) to build a nice competitive package. Due to the nature of how Pertino works you can easily push out policy, permissions, updates.
If you’re still investigating, definitely give it a look.
Best,
Josh

Are your remote users connecting via VPN + AD? If so you could use group policy to change the desktop wallpaper or push other changes. I know that there are RMM solutions like GFI Max (now MAXfocus) allows you to restart services as well as execute command line remotely.
I’ve been using ScreenConnect for a while now and love it! That combined with GFI Max RMM and all my remote support needs are covered.

If there are not much typical task to manage remotely, you may give a shot to our free Lepide remote admin tool that could be an appropriate alternative solution for you while need to manage the networks remotely.
Can start services remotely and licensing is based on the number of users. Starts at around $270USD per user. But the tool does not support anything similar to one2many.

That’s right! Dameware Remote Support can be a right choice.
Dameware can do the following:
- Remotely Control your computers
- Perform Windows administration tasks - includes restarting services
- Can manage AD domains

Also, if you wish to deploy a software or manage patches on Microsoft® Windows® servers, you can use DameWare Patch Manager.

These are programmers that did the TeamViewer. when the company was sold the key programmers started something new. give it a try with the free version and look at the ordering to find the pricing model.

One thing that I forgot to mention, is that the remote computers are not in the same network. I have been setting up a site-to-site VPN using our Meraki, but most are behind 1 (or 2 in the case of the Comcast locations) firewalls. So any administration tool that requires direct network access will not work

We use Citrix GoToAssist here. It’s pretty decent, IMO.
If you consider using unattended support as an option, GoToAssist can enable you to connect without the users present so you can transfer files to the machine and run the updates accordingly. This can be much easier to manage especially since they’re not on the same network.
Let me know if you have any questions about GoToAssist. If you decide to try it, don’t hesitate to reach out to me for a discount code.
Heard good things about Beanywhere!

I know, and I actually read a lot of them. I also started testing Bomgar and ScreenConnect before I found out about the price hike. The problem is that most focus on remote connection, and I need a little more of administration. I really liked both products I tested (Bomgar is more sleek) but none do file distribution (one2Many) or service management over WAN

I pretty much only do unattender. Even when the users are at the location, after the put a ticket they tend to leave the PC
