Restoring a back up of the Spiceworks Database

Hi Guys,

I am currently trying to restore a back up of our spiceworks database onto a non domain machine just to make sure it can be done before upgrading!

I understand that you need to replace the data and db folders… I have done this and got it running. It picks up everything, inventory, reporting, etc. But throws its toys out of the pram when i click helpdesk!!

Where am i going wrong? Any ideas?

have you got any detailed error messages and can you detail the procedure you use in a bit more detail?

It 's doesn’t sounds from your description, Robert, that you are doing a backup and restore but are instead attempting to do a file copy. Try using SpiceWorks back and restore functionality instead.

I have followed the steps and am still struggling. Application error is all i get when i click helpdesk - troubleshooting options include shutdown restart etc. all the normal things? =s
