I’m wondering if anyone can help me.

I have spiceworks on a network and Spiceworks can see some machines without issues, but most give a scan error, the most common being ‘No open ports for this device were found to be responding.’

I have picked out one of the machines and in an effort to check where the problem lies I disabled the windows firewall and the anti virus - I still got the same error.

I have checked the DNS by doing an nslookup of both the IP and hostname (of the remote machine) on the Spieworks machine, and they resolved correctly.

I added the Administrator Account used by spiceworks to the security tab of WMI and I also added it to the Dcom, COM Security tab (by clicking on Edit Limits under Launch and Activate permissions) - I still get the same message.

I restarted the remote machine just in case a restart was required for any of the above - still no joy.

The remote machine is running XP (but so are other machines which spiceworks can see fine).

Has anyone got any ideas about what I can try next or what might be causing the problem?

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer
