Hi
I’ve just set up up my Spiceworks server but when I try to scan to inventory all the devices in my IT infrastrucutre it has errors as only 41% of the devices detected were inventoried successfully. These are the main two error messages I get for scanning:
No open ports for this device were found to be responding.
This typically means that there is a firewall or permission issue preventing remote access
However I know the port for Spiceworks is open so I am wondering what could be causing this issue and that the firewall isn’t causing any access issues because even with the firewall disabled I still have these scaning problems.
Uncategorizable
Wow, something’s screwy with these devices. Tubes are probably clogged
I have tried the fixes when selecting a device but none of them apply to my situation. As there isn’t a grouppolicy getting in the way and i know the port for Spiceworks is open as none of my devices would scan otherwise.
If anyone knows any other solutions to this problem it would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Hi Yeah these ports are open as well as otherwie none of the devices that were in that port would scan properly. For example some windows computers are inventoried where others are not so the port must be open for those computers who got scanned successfully.
Read the group policy from this link: http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/17026-preparing-your-network-for-group-policy-preferences
In this link it mentions a tool that if run on Windows 7 and 8 machines, sets the correct firewall for you. I had trouble with using group policy from the active directory on some computers, and the tool did the job. I was having errors similar to yours.
