Hi to all,
i have installed spiceworks, started scan of all my network and the result has appeared:
These devices couldn’t be inventoried. (2888 Devices)
Windows firewall or permission issue (22 Devices)
- some device, like my laptop with two result
-
There’s not much to see on this device until it’s inventoried.
-
Device inventoried, information are visible, but "We couldn’t connect to this device due to the following error: No open ports for this device were found to be responding.
"
- a lot of scan error, there are only ip address free, but spiceworks tagged like scan error.
i try to troubleshoot this problem, with this step:
disable Windows firewall
disable Kaspersky Endpoint security 10.2.1.23
spiceworks.vbs in the group of kaspersky like trusted !
thanks.
1 Spice up
I had the issue when I set Spiceworks up a couple of years ago, for us, the firewall was getting in the way of Spiceworks correctly seeing the devices on the network.
Thanks for your reply…
of course, the guilty is Windows Firewall or Kaspersky Endpoint Security, but i turn off both options, without success.
Any suggest ?
thanks
Try this on one of the windows PC’s - http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Spiceworks_Unknowns_Tool
It will tell you why it can’t be scanned and will try and fix the issues for you. If that works on one machine you can try and adjust your group policy if you are running an AD. If not you’ll have to run that on each machine.
Thanks for this tools, i try this at short time…
i try to create a new gpo with this guide, step by step: http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/22635-use-group-policy-to-enforce-windows-firewall-configuration
i put in a TestOU, two PC with inventory issues and test this gpo, both PC are inventoried immediatly !
i try to move this pc to original OU, one PC to be continued inventoried, but one not, with error:“We couldn’t connect to this device due to the following error: Received WMI error code Server RPC non disponibile., 800706B”.
to be continued…
scan issues resolved with this step by step guide: http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/22635-use-group-policy-to-enforce-windows-firewall-configuration
but i don’t understand, if i turn off windows firewall, the scan process not works fine…
it has been remaining only two secondary problem:
- some device, like my laptop with two result
if i am searching a device ( pc or laptop ), with name of pc or ip address, some device there are two result; first one with correct information, last one with only with the information name of pc like serial number.
- in the general scan page, ip address free are find like red not like grey.
thanks.
in the second issue, i try to delete and insert the ip scan range; with a new scan, ip address free finally result grey !
but some device are red other are green !!!
update…
i have to found “Bulk Delete” function…
so i am removing manually all scan error, like duplicate or ip address free.
