Im new to spice works so go easy on me
I setup spiceworks about a week ago now and its brillent! i have help desk going and everything. i cant figure out this last little bit.
i have 285 Scann Errors. all saying the same thing “Permission or firewall problem?” and when i look in the device summery i see this
“No open ports for this device were found to be responding. This typically means that there is a firewall or permission issue preventing remote access. Please see the help section”
help?
Thanks!

o Sorry forgot the inportant bits
Windows XP Pro all on the same domain. windows firewall enabled sohpos antivirus installed
but the same configeration is working on other computers
We have this too, but if we ‘rescan’ the PCs individually then it works. A bit of a pain with 100-odd PCs.
I did try to fix it by using Group Policy to set the DCOM/WMI permissions on a subset of PCs but it doesn’t make any difference. It appears once the scheduled network scan gives a scan error that PC will continue to have a scan error until manually rescanned.
That is usually caused by ports that should be open being closed on host machines, or because the user account that spiceworks is using to scan the machines doesn’t have the required privs.
Check the Spiceworks documentation for required ports etc, systematically work down that and see how it goes. I know occassionally Spiceworks tells me certain machines have scan errors, but then when I return in the morning it’s all working good again.
