We have upgraded in the past 6 months to Windows 7 and I am using Spiceworks to inventory my devices. It worked fine in XP but now I am having the issue that some devices that I can ping and even check with wmi just do not show up in Spiceworks. The IP address address shows as Open - no device attached - and I know there is one attached (I can ping the device from the Spiceworks server)

This is affecting approximately 25% of my devices and they are all the same unit and all built to a standard build.

What do you suggest

2 Spice ups

Firewall / WMI issues are more than likely the cause of your problems. Try this tool, should fix this issue:

Thanks for the advice but this did not fix the issue. Device is on the network but Spiceworks can’t even see that its there - whether scanned or not.

So you ran this tool and it said you have no firewall or wmi issues?

Do you have the subnet added to the scan list correct?

It had 2 issues both of which I fixed and still no change.

Yes the subnet is right as it picks up other devices, ones with the same Win7 build.

Its strange Spiceworks cant detect the device that is their irrespective of whether it can scan for details
