We started up a new Spicework server on a new network (setup plenty before on other networks,) with all the basics. Firewall rules were setup, scan ranges setup properly, all that jazz. This is the first time I’m having issues with the initial scan. When running the scan it shows the items (with a grey circle as if its about to scan them) but it never actually scans and inventories them. Instead, it grabs 3 ESXi servers and the rest disappear. The items are shown at the end in grey boxes (screen shots below.)
Has anyone encountered this before and know what it could mean? My hunch would be firewall, but we’re fairly confident we have it setup 100%.
Help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey Van,
If you try setting up a new scan range for just a single IP what happens? Does the device scan successfully or does it vanish in the same way?

Hi Jon, I have tried that, the same exact thing happens, it will show the device with the grey circle as above, then show the scan range with that single item marked in the dark grey. When I hover over, it shows the name of the device as well, it just doesn’t take it in.

Hey Van,
Well, that’s just… weird.
Can you try the following steps and see if they help?
Exit Spiceworks
Head to C:\Program Files (x86)\Spiceworks\Data
Rename the kuids.yaml file to kuids.yaml.old
Restart Spiceworks
Run a scan once more
Then, post back with the results!

Hey Van,
Okay, I’m thinking we’ll need to get a look at your logs then. There’s definitely something weird going on (as you know!). Can you shoot a message over to support@spiceworks.com and reference this thread?
