Hey guys!

So I recently took a CCENT Class and rather enjoyed it. I’m looking to build on what I learned there, so I want to get some equipment for my home. I actually came to acquire a 24 Port Catalyst 3750, so I’m at super overkill on the switch side, I really just need a router. What’s a decent router that I can pick up second hand on ebay for a good price? I’m looking to spend <$100, more in the range of $50. I’m sure it’s possible with second hand equipment.

Thanks to anyone who can assist!

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

I bought my equipment through Cables and Kits, they have a lifetime warrantee and all of the equipment will work. There are always folks sitting on surplus equipment looking to unload it for whatever they can manage.

{"@type":"Person
stopthenoise
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/stopthenoise"}},{"@type":"Answer

Thanks guys, I’m more looking for specific models that are known to be reliable, then I can go search. I don’t have any knowledge of Cisco routers, and I don’t want to buy something that isn’t great.

{"@type":"Person
adamprowse2
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/adamprowse2"}},{"@type":"Answer

I believe the 1950 or 2650 routers should be good enough for the CCNA. it all depends on the IOS version installed. I am not sure the 1800 series is applicable anymore.

{"@type":"Person
anthony9
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/anthony9"}},{"@type":"Answer

1841’s. Exactly the same as 2800’s only MUCH quieter and much smaller. I’ve had 4 in my lab for years. I maxed out the RAM in all of them and they can run all the latest ISR G2 IOS’s without issue.
