Firefox will not allow you to proceed if it can’t establish a secure connection. It will give you an option to proceed if it can’t validate the certificate, but in the cases it can’t actually create the secure connection, it won’t let you proceed at all:

how come chrome and edge allow you to click proceed then?

Chrome and edge are both based on Chromium, which is a fundamentally different base than Firefox.

Aside from that, FF tends to lean more towards privacy-focused features and default preferences, so this behavior is more likely intentional. You may be able to change this behavior in the about:config options menu, or the browser settings, but I’m not sure what that setting would be myself.

A quick search on Mozilla’s support site leads me to believe this might work, but this was pulled from a page that’s around 7 years old, so it’s likely things have changed:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste insec and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false
(4) Assume this login could be easily stolen and avoid re-using it on important sites

looks like they got rid of it

Wouldn’t the better option be to simply fix the issue at hand rather than circumvent it, and use DNS names not IPs.

You have a known working solution, use Chrome or Edge.
