For some of us we have a long weekend. (off Monday and Tuesday)
What are you watching?
New Witcher is out. Also, Muscles and Mayhem. Silo Finale. New show with Idres Elba, Hijack…may take a gander.
I didn’t see Flash yet so that is an option.
ALMOST forgot…Final season of Jack Ryan! I have always enjoyed watching John Krasinki since he was on The Office.

We’re looking forward to Jack Ryan.
We watched Dungeons and Dragons last night. If anyone hasn’t seen it, it was good.

@ich-ni-san How was Chris Pine in it? I still think of him as CPT Kirk lol
2 Spice ups
LOL. It took 1/3 to 1/2 the movie to stop thinking of him as Kirk, but he did fine.
I would NOT have predicted this, but I liked D & D better than John Wick 4.

I’m a Cavill stan, so I’m likely going to skip The Witcher. Waifu and I are watching some Korean game show thingy called Siren Island or something. We’ve got festivities planned so screen time will be relatively minimal.

@ich-ni-san I’ll have to check it out. It is free on the streaming apps.

It’s an extra long weekend for me since vacation starts in a few hours.
Before my Wednesday flight I want to finish off the latest Black Mirror season, and maybe the Schwarzenegger biography series and his new Netflix series as well. That’ll get me all set for a couple of weeks of being mostly off the grid.
That is, I’m not going to go to Germany for two weeks to visit family and stay in a small German inn that’s been around since 1560, and then spend my time watching shows and movies. I’m already feeling guilty enough about planning to log in every day here and do the IT challenge.

@edt Enjoy Germany! Lived there for a while. Going back for work in September. Should be interesting.

Thanks, I plan to! My aunt & uncle still live in the same house where I lived with them over forty years ago while growing up there; they’re just getting too old to have a huge number of house guests so my brother and his kids and I are staying in the 450-year-old inn in the town square while just my mom will be staying at her sister’s place. It’s a town of barely 9,000 people so it’s cool that it still holds on to its history.
The one big new thing that’s come up since I lived there is that it came out in the early 2000’s that Friedrich Kellner, who was the local justice inspector in the town during the Nazi era, had secretly written ten volumes of diaries detailing his criticisms and horrors of the Nazi regime from 1933 to 1945. He said later, “I could not fight the Nazis in the present, as they had the power to still my voice, so I decided to fight them in the future. I would give the coming generations a weapon against any resurgence of such evil.” Brave guy. There’s now an exhibit about him at the local town museum so I plan to go see that while I’m there.
Since this is the “Shows/Movies” thread after all, I’ll recommend the excellent Canadian documentary My Opposition: The Diaries of Friedrich Kellner which is about the diaries, and about Kellner’s orphaned grandson, who grew up in the US but traveled back to Germany to find his grandparents, and when they revealed the diaries to him, made it much of his life’s work to compile and publish them for posterity. It’s available on YouTube. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT965okD2Gk )

@edt Very cool history and I’ll definitely take a look at the doc. I watched A Small Light on Hulu. I am interested in WW2 as it relates to that area.

Just seen the Flash, just ok, terrible ending. I liked Michael Keaton.
Been watching The War of the Worlds on Netflix, not to bad yet.
Also just Strange New Worlds.
I might watch The Expanse, seasons 1-3. It would be my 5th time lol.

I don’t know whether this counts, but the NASCAR downtown Chicago race is happening this weekend.
Some people from our office are going in to watch live, but I may catch some highlight streams if I can find one.
Out of everything, Indiana Jones.
I binge watched the latest episodes of Black Mirror. Loved it!
I also saw Indy 5 at the cinema. I thought it was entertaining enough. Not a patch on the originals but there will still some fun bits like the prologue.
I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode of Secret Invasion.
I’m tempted by a few things at the cinema this week, but I did go three times last week catching Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, The Flash and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
I enjoyed them all, but The Flash was spoiled (like most of the DCEU films) by awful CGI, although the supporting cast were brilliant. I was worried about shark-jumping antics in Indiana Jones, but am pleased to report they managed to avoid it in suitably Indy fashion. Across The Spider-Verse was excellent, although I get the impression I’m the only person paying attention in the cinema sometimes when it comes to twists (and the same applies to The Flash).
