Hey brainstrust,
I’m looking for a simple video editor that I can use to create documentation.
The requirements I need are:
- Add text
- Add circles and arrows to point to things
- Split/cut/stretch clips
- Export to mp4 in relatively low quality
I’ve had a play around with OpenShot and it’s reasonable, but there’s a few quirks with it that stop it being day-to-day useful.
Happy to pay up to 100USD for the simplicity of my requirements.
Cheers

I think Light works will do the job. It is free and i dont think it has all that watermark stuff. I am not aware about its extended functionality but it can be used to do for professional video editing as well. I don’t know how simple do you want it to be.
Im still a fan of the old Windows Movie Maker. M$ has stopped adding stuff to it but there is still some community made stuff for it that makes it way better then it was before. I have been using it for quite some time and it is quite nice now.
I dont have the link for the newer version handy but I can find it eventually.
Davinchi Resolve is a free, but very powerful video editor. Lot of tutorials and documentation on it as well.
