We are having an issue with inventory scans not updating software or OS versions.

Devices are scanning however when we look at installed software it is showing the version that was installed when the computer was scanned in first not what is currently installed. We are collecting all data not deltas but for some reason software versions do not update.

A long time “issue” that has caused us not to use the inventory tool any longer, unfortunatly.

Any alternatives you can recommend?

Unto EOL, I had been using Secunia PSI on my personal notebook. Following common recommendation, I’ve switched to KC Softwares SUMo in its registered Professional variant. It does a good job if configured accordingly. I don’t consider it user friendly enough. The developers priorities are not mine. But he is willing to provide desired changes, some needing major redesigns. As the companies resources are limited, such progress is slow. Depending on your aims, configuration, deployment, hardware and device count, it will produce more or less false positives. If you’ve many devices to monitor, then I guess it will not get recommendable in the next few years due to current limitations and too little management support. In spring of this year, this product reached version 5.9 with integration of multi-device dashboard and monitoring.
