Hi Guys,
I’m looking to replace our LogMeIn remote access software with something cheaper. We currently have Sonicwall TZ200’s and noticed the SonicWall VirtualAssist. Any one of you have any experience with this? Is this even a viable alternative to LogMeIn? Or is it a completely different software altogether?

Virtual assist is just a VPN, then you still have to VNC or RDP or somehow connect to the computer in question.
Sounds more involved, most remote solutions, such as Teamviewer screen-connect etc etc can easily do that in one step. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

True. Dang. I thought we could finally get rid of LogMeIn for free oh well. Are there any free alternatives to LogMeIn that you recommend? Something that has centralized management capabilities would be nice.

Look around in the community, there 1001 threats with the same question :oP
Now FREE alternative, I don’t think so.
MY personal choice would be either Teamviewer or ScreenConnect (but I hate screenconnect, for raising the price or the local self hosted version from $350 to like 2 grand…) They do however have a hosted monthly solution.
Again free… not really, Teamviewer not commercially, Chrome Remote Desktopn, Remote utilities offer up to 10 seats free i think… tough.
Hi,
I've just had an email informing me that LogMein will no longer be free. I use it quite often to remote into the servers from home and a few colleagues connect to their desktops. Can anyone recommend an alternative that is similar?

Hi all,
We want to use a VNC solution instead of paying for something like Logmein. We use ChunkVNC which runs of ultravnc for 1 click support and it works great. Idealy we want the same method but for permanent server access. The chunkvnc does not work well with this. It uses the ultravnc repeater for access over port 443 so we dont need to port forward. Is there any way to set up ultravnc server the same way but have it run even if the server is rebooted?
Hi guys, I'm using logmein central, but it's getting too expensive. Do you guys know of an alternative similar to logmein central but not so expensive?
Thanks.

Alright, so I've been with LMI almost a year. Below are some of the pros and cons of the software from my use. Note, I've been using LogMeIn Central.
Pros:
Accessible from anywhere on any computer
Ability to manage clients into different groups (Such as by office, location, or network)
Integrates well with Hamachi (*noted in cons as well)
Unlimited users and active sessions
Group and User management is great and user friendly, doesn't need to be internal only
Deployment is fairly simple to …

Looks like I lied, It looks a lot like MSFT’s Remote Assist

Does not seem worth it though ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It is OK if you have clients reaching out to a tech for help. Works with Mac and PC.
There is no unattended support, so you can not connect to unattended computers.
