Sorry guys this is more of a rant than a question.

Held off going to SW7 for a few months but thought the time was right; wanted some of the new features. Unfortunately wishing I’d not bothered.

Loads of devices “discovered” which were already in inventory. Now all my manually-added data for those devices has gone.

My main router / firewall record has also gone because SW decided a PC connecting in via VPN was actually the router. Any Notes, Attributes, ticket associations, etc. - gone.

Guys, this is not fair. By now you should have an inventory scan that preserves existing data rather than throwing it away. I can’t be doing with this “delete your inventory and start again” because we always add manual data to the records.

Feeling very, very disappointed and annoyed.

Spiceworks has done this before but not on this scale. I don’t need to be wasting time like this.

Revert to v.6 and get stuck on a legacy version? Find something completely new?

Or, hopefully, find a way through this mess and get back on an even keel.

I know, I know…you want specifics, “send us your log files”, etc. But really - you should know that I was an enormous fan but for the latest version to trash data like this is completely unacceptable.

When I’ve calmed down I’ll post some specific examples.

Am I the only one?

Please do send the support team a logs package and open a ticket. I haven’t heard of these items happening and they are not expected to occur.

Thanks - I’ll do that as soon as I’ve been able to analyse in more detail what’s happened.

Without sending log files in it will be difficult for the developers to determine what happenend so they can help you and fix a possible bug. Aaron has posted the link and I would strongly recommend following it.

You should have a backup of your old db automatically created during the SW7 install.
