My wife recently stated that the Spiceworks Community is my Facebook. I don’t currently have a facebook account, nor do I want one. I tried Google+ for about 2 days. I’m just not a big fan of social media sites apparently…

So, my question is:

Do you think that the Spiceworks Community is the ‘Facebook for Geeks’, or something substantially more productive?

More productive, definately … especially around the Water Cooler

yes definately and its more fun

Honestly? Yeah, a little bit. I can’t stand social media in just about any of its forms, and I dropped out of a bunch of forums after years of being heavily into them. Aaaaaaand now Spiceworks Community has sucked me back in. Gee, thanks guys. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes and No.

Spiceworks is okay if all of your friends are into IT.

hope you dont mean being a Geek is a bad thing? I am not the stereotypical Geek…

but I have Facebook and Google+ to talk to my ‘normal’ friends.

Beginning to think that most days. I don’t facebook for many reasons. I tell myself that this is good and let it go at that.

Ask your wife what she has learned on facebook that has benefited mankind, then turn around and log into Spiceworks.

If it wasn’t for the Spiceworks community, I wouldn’t be half of the admin that I am now.

I find spiceworks more of a Professional community, the water cooler is only here so we can just talk about every day stuff without flooding the rest of the Boards…

so in my opinion it’s better then Facebook, no need for facebook arguments, no need for videos and pictures, just put in your stats and that’s you nothing else lol

Way more productive. Spiceworks has gotten me out of a coupple of jams here and there. I don’t see FB doing that.

I have all of them. This one is more productive.

This could be good or bad, depending on which half of the admin you are now.

Yup, this is the SMB IT Facebook. It’s been said many times, in fact.

I don’t understand the draw for Facebook/Google+/MySpace/Twitter types of programs…I was on Google+ up until a very good friend of mine posted “I’m a little tea pot”, someone else posted that they kicked the teapot, and my friend (a 44 year old man) posted “Big meanie poo head”…I really don’t have time for stuff like that…Another very good friend of mine got rid of his FB account because he was realizing that he really didn’t like his friends, based on their FB posts!!

This is WAY more beneficial, obviously, but beyond that, it’s a true Community…The posters are friendly, helpful, and understanding. The amount of knowledge is astounding!

A lot more useful, lot more friendly, lot more productive, and without the BS.

Soooooooooo true.

Do you guys hang out on here after business hours too? I think y’all are swell folks, but I don’t know if I want to hang out with you on the weekends. I’m on here during business hours all the time, though.

Just in here during work.

Mostly during work, but I’ve popped on after work or when I was on vacation…

Unless FB has a bacon page I’m not interested!

This is enough typing for me…
