Hello,

Is it more bandwidth intensive to have one server and network scan 4 remote sites on WAN or remote collect on each site?

Currently I have a central server doing a network scan on 5 IP ranges 1 local range and 4 remote ranges. Is this the same as the remote collector in efficiency or less efficient?

Kind regards,

Dave Collins

I’ve gone down the first route, having a central server then remote collections at various sites across the WAN. I found having too many ranges going across the WAN made scans very slow, this way its all done locally and seems to respond better

Good enough for me. thank you very much!

Your Welcome!

I currently scan 3 sites spread across Europe, probably about 700 devices in total. I’ve plans to roll out this way to another 10 sites probably topping off 3000 devices when all done!

remote collectors are way more efficient

my main site in Sydney and I’m in the UK, so the latency of each scan would kill us never mind shipping the info about (ping latency is around 320ms!)
