Hi,

I have deployed spiceworks at my main site and have just recently deployed it at a small remote site that i have. I have made that installation a remote site collector. My question is more geared towards bandwidth. I currently have it set to run a network scan every 4 hours, with a network health check every hour. My question is how much data is coming across the wan during that health check and scan interval. I’m not seeing any issues, but wasn’t sure how the settings actually work. How are some other people using the remote site capablities?

That depends if you have incremental scanning on or off.

If on - then yes. It is however best practice to turn it off since it is known to cause other problems.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

You should have no problems since the remote collector will gather the data and send it back to the main server. The scan won’t transmit over WAN.

{"@type":"Person
yasaf
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/yasaf"}},{"@type":"Answer

So in essence, the scan is always the most data (unless you totally change equipment at a site)

So can I assume it works like backups in away. Meaning 1st pass it does a full of everything, and subsequent passes, it sends only changes?
