Hey guys, just recently when I try to access my spice works from my android device it says:
Untrusted Certificate and if I click proceed it just keeps popping up. Any ideas on how to resolve this?

thanks!

1 Spice up

do you have a valid certificate? if you go to the help desk on your desktop using HTTPS do you see the same thing? you may need to configure the SSL cert. This may help:

http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/3267-create-new-public-ssl-certificate-for-spiceworks

I can get to it by web. I get the untrusted site but that’s normal. If I click proceed anyways I can still access it.

But by the app I cannot proceed, and this just randomly started happening.

I’ve seen that once before and I believe the fix was to delete and re-install the mobile app. Have you tried that?

no i have not, i till give that a try

Sweet! Write back and let us know if that does the trick.

I did this and it did not work by uninstalling and reinstalling.

I never got a SSL signed by any CA or anything just using the self assigned provided with the install of spiceworks.
anyone else have an idea?

Try accessing your Spiceworks server by opening a browser on your Android device. Are you able to login that way, via HTTPS?

Yes this works 100%.
it still gives me the Cert error but I say proceed anyways and I can log in.

with the app I keep getting the message that its untrusted and if I hit proceed it will pop up again.

What version of the Mobile App are you on?

I am using 3.0.2
I am not the only 1 either, this is happening for all members in IT

also don’t forget this was working originally. just randomly 1 day it stopped.

What version of the desktop app are you on? I’m going to see if we can recreate it on this end.

Current Version: 7.4.00070

Still working on this! I haven’t forgotten about this. I’m also checking with our mobile app folks, so just hang out a little bit more.

perfect thank you so much!

Hi Mike,

Is your install accessible externally by any chance?

It is yes

Would it be possible to create an account for us to test on? You can make it a help desk tech, so that none of your information is actually visible. Our app guys want to take a look at the logging that is taking place while the pop up shows up.

Hi,

Thanks for your patience in dealing with this. We found out that it is a bug in our code. Once the certificate expires, the app doesn’t allow you to get passed the pop up for security reasons. We are going to fix that as soon as we can. Can’t give you an exact date, but our devs are actively working on fixing this.
