I’ve had Spiceworks running on a server for several years. last week it quit running. When I would hit the web interface, it said it was chopping the peppers, but it never came up. I backed up the database, uninstalled, downloaded the latest, and reinstalled. Now it is stuck on Starting Spiceworks Desktop. It’s been there for 24 hours.

I am running Server 2008R2 on a VM. Like I said, its been running for several years, and then it quit. I have not run any updates recently. The server is fine, but Spiceworks isn’t.

Please help!

Have you restarted the app or the service?

I’ve restarted everything and even reinstalled the entire thing.

Have you just closed the browser and opened it back up? It was a known bug starting with 7.x I believe that it would sometimes happen. Also, you need to be using a supported IE version or use Chrome.

Holy Crap! It works. I could not get it to go even after a browser restart. I noticed the icon in the task tray. I right clicked, entered my account info and it work.

Thanks guys!

Modify those settings to have it start as a service on startup, then you can use PowerShell to fix it if this happens again:
