I have a few systems that accused a unwanted software, that is Microsoft Office Home and Student.

I reinstalled the OS and have a properly licensed copy of 2010 home/office installed on it and the old student sitll shows as installed. I have turned off the firewall and scanned it but the software still shows as installed. So I had it removed from the other machines where it was installed and still have it there. Ok so on those I checked and removed from registry any reference to office 12.x (2007) lo and behold it is still there??? What next?

Thanks,

Ozz.

odd since SW gets its info from the systems registry for software installed and you did reinstalled the OS

try running ccleaner from Speed up, optimize and clean your PC for free | CCleaner for PC to purge to reg from anything that might have come from an update or office install

Thanks for the answer, just to clarify, you mean running that on the workstations that were not reinstalled, I take it?

The one that the OS was reinstalled, I see no reason to do that.
Anything that can be done directly on Spice to see if it can clear these entries?

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to be able to purge those manually, then rescan the machines affected?

Thanks.

Windows updates can through all kinds of crap in there once office or other products are installed

you should make a feature request/ or vote up if it is already requested. I can see it being useful http://community.spiceworks.com/feature_request

Update:

I hadn’t noticed but Spice still sees the workstation in question as XP and we reinstalled it with Windows 7. What can we do to change that?

I have o far dropped the firewall and rescanned it several times but apparently seems cached on Spice, is there a way to try to remove this cache?

I am close to reinstalling Spice to see if that changes anything…

BTW, I have moved the DB from original installation over to a proper server now.

Thanks.

I have entered a Feature Request to allow manual removal of stale entries.

Thanks.

np you wanna post the link to it an I’ll up vote too

There you go, thanks!!

Anyone else to bump the above request up?
