Hi All!

First of all I’d like to thank the Spiceworks team for this fantastic product!!

Here my question:

I ran an audit on my domain and everything went OK.

After that i uninstalled several copies of MS Office from lots of PCs since they weren’t used and i was running short of licenses…

Now when i browse to a specific machice in the ‘software’ tab i still see Office listed as installed application even though the software is not installed anymore!

This also happens in the reports.

Is there any solution to this? Maybe i’m just missing something!

Sorry if this question was posted before but i couldn’t find it…

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes after an uninstall a product key or a registry key may still linger around. Spiceworks will still detect these stale entries and report them as being installed.

Here’s a few things you can do first before checking the registries in these devices:

  • Go into the device(s) that are still incorrectly reporting software and click “refresh”.

  • If that doesn’t work, initiate a scan in debug mode:

    • Go into Settings > Network Scan

    • Enter the IP address of one of the devices where software is being incorrectly reported.

    • Check “skip” off every device except for the one you entered above

    • Put Spiceworks on debug mode (instructions below)

      Spiceworks Debug Mode:

  • Navigate to Settings > Advanced Options

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on More Options

  • Click “false” on “Verbose Scanner Output” and set it to true.

  • Restart Spiceworks

  • Browse to Settings > Network Scan and set Scan Speed to slow

  • Now select the Start button.

If all that doesn’t work, it’s time to check and see if there’s stale entries:

  • Go into the registry hives and check that there’s not a stale entry there: HKLM/Software/MicrosoftCurrentVersion/Uninstall and HKLM/Software/Wow6432Node/MicrosoftCurrentVersion/Uninstall
  • Check out this shared report that lists all the microsoft product keys Spiceworks is reporting: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/17457

Let me know if this helps…
