I am having issues: I have computers that are on the network but are not listed in the inventory of Spiceworks. I also have computers/printers that are not on the network and are still listed on Spiceworks.

I was not the one who set Spiceworks up so I was not sure how it would scan/determine what inventory we had.

I am trying to run reports on inventory/Laptop vs desktop ex. and it is showing stuff I know is not on the network.

Hiya

Check the network range:

  • Settings
  • Network scan
  • Check the machines are in the setup range

Check you can ping the devices

  • Login to the spiceworks server
  • Start
  • type “CMD” no "
  • enter
  • ping machine name
  • do you get a reply?

Test the spiceworks range:

  • Settings
  • network scan
  • find the range
  • test
  • type in the ip or name
  • ok
  • do you get an error?

I had a similar issue when I was setting up spiceworks. Go to option and then scan options and delete all of the ranges. Go to inventory and remove all devises. Then setup a new scan range or multiple ranges. Create approperate domain credentials and start a new scan.

Hope it helps, it certainly fixed my double entries and other similar issues.

I was able to ping an ip and ran a test on the same ip and the test passed. The machine is still not listed on my inventory. Should it be?
