Just saw this.
$400 is a nice price for a switch.
Anyone else going to try it out?

For a managed Layer 2 switch, that ain’t shabby.

Just got an email as well from Ubiquiti announcing it as well.
We have one company moving in a couple of months and I think I am going to use a couple of these in that project.

I may give one a try just to replace the PoE injectors and have all the WiFi AP plugged into a single switch.

Sounds like something to try. We already use the ap’s and the poe switch, why not add another switch to the collection. Too bad we aren’t in the market for a new switch.

Must they take all my monies?
But fer serious: That’s nice. Trouble is I’m too Dutch to plop $400 for a switch when I can get a nice one for $170 and just use the included PoE bricks. (Talking entirely about my home use of course.)

… @jma, I’m pretty sure these aren’t intended for home use.

I AM super excited about those. The base model phone appears to be shipping to distributors for reselling in the first week or two of November.

" IEEE 802.3af/at and 24V passive PoE " … yeah, not excited - their still trying to keep that “standard” alive I see.

Bah. My home firewall is a Watchguard chassis that runs pfSense. My primary switch is a Dell PowerConnect 6224.
Granted, these are both retired units from my employer, but hey: I never have to reboot stuff because it randomly locks up. Plus I have native IPv6 inside my network thanks to 6rd in pfSense. (It goes without saying that I use UniFi for WiFi as well.)

To quote their page
“The UniFi® Switch supports an extensive suite of advanced Layer-2 switching features and protocols, and also provides Layer-3 routing capability.”
I have a couple of the 48port 750watt Edge Switches on order, can’t wait to get these bad chickens in and test them out!

Same here - enterprise level stuff at home including Sonicwall firewall and Ubiquiti UniFi AC access points.

You do realize I won’t believe it until I see retailers actually shipping them. Hence the IR IP Camera that they promised for around 2 years, I had a rep from ubnt tell me personally that they were coming soon and two years later they started showing up but were constantly out of stock.
Just saying.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s the date on this page that I’m excited about: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1079087-REG/ubiquiti_networks_uvp_unifi_voip_phone.html
This other reseller has a similar date as well: http://www.balticnetworks.com/ubiquiti-unifi-voip-phone.html
I don’t like how that second one claims it’s $169 and they discount it though, since UBNT says $149 is the MSRP. Kinda shady…

Yeah we bought 3 AP’s and loved them but had trouble getting more for ages hope they sorted the supply issue out for this new kit.
Might order a couple switches to play with and deploy.
Is it a complete phone system? or do they “join” an existing PBX (3CX/Asterisk)
But looking forward to see what they bring out s next
seem they are trying to take over the world
AirFiber is still in short supply, and that’s been out for how long?
What’s the major difference between the EdgeSwitch and this new switch? Looked like central management was about it?

I have 3 of the IR IP cams in my office right now. Sadly they’re being deployed elsewhere, but whatevs. Still shiny.
And for the one person complaining about the switch supporting 802.3af, at, and 24V - Golly, sorry their product is so flexible, and that they are supporting their existing customers. “Make your product do less, it’s making everyone else look bad!” Hehehe.
I do have one of the 24port, 500W switches on order. I’ll report back once I get to play with it, but if it’s at all like the Toughswitches, then I’m excited.

Assuming a complete system but this is what the site says for requirements.
The UniFi VoIP Phone requires the following:
• UniFi Security Gateway
• UniFi Switch or 802.3af compliant switch for UVP, 802.3at compliant switch for UVP-Pro/UVP-Executive
• UniFi Controller
I emailed my local vender and he is hoping he can connect to his existing system so i told him to report back his findings.
