Rant in bound.

I wanted to order 6 Optiplex 3020 Micro PCs and 12 Ultra sharp monitors. First quote they sent me was $14,000.00! I thought " wow thats a little high" went back and looked they put 72 Ultra sharp monitors. Told them I only need 12 monitors they give me a quote back with only 5 computers and monitors. I made it very clear in my emails that I wanted just 6 computers and 12 monitors. This has been the most frustrating experience I have had with a Dell Rep normally. They seem to be very short handed because I have been bounced around several times trying to get this quote either one person was gone or another was sick. What is going on over there?

There’s some Dell GGs on here that are generally really helpful. I’d say that your best bet would be to try and ask them instead of going through standard customer service. Especially if you’re having such a bad go of it.

We went through some crap like this with them trying to get our desktops without disk drives, and upgrading to SSDs. They wanted way to much, and couldn’t ever get our order right.

We switched to @Lenovo and they got us everything we needed. If your vendor can’t get you what you want, there are tons of other companies that really want your business, and will work hard for it.

That is why we go through insight. let them fight with Dell. You have better things to do with your time.

Sounds like one of those people who skipped math class to play D&D at the donut shop across the street.

Dell reps can definitely have bad days just like the rest of us. Seems to be more of a repeated theme these days though.

Dell india script monkeys once again!

No, wait, that’s the order desk, so it must be incompetent philipines.

And this is why we go through a vendor for all our stuff. We use HP though.

I do have to say that since I have a dedicated account rep I don’t have a lot of these issues that others are having. I must be lucky have and have an awesome account team.

I will no go through my Dell rep to order desktop PC’s. The rep always messes it up and they always quote you higher than what is on the official Dell website.

It’s nice not having a rep. I just order online and everything shows up as expected in about 3 days  Premier Discounts ftw!

What, the OP needed hardware so he pulled out his magical dodecahedrons–rolls a 6 and 12. 6 computers times 12 monitors = 72 monitors needed! (WITH +2 to eye strength)

Hello Matthew6920,

Sorry for the issues that you were having trying to get the correct quote so that you can place the order. I see that you stated that you were able to get the correct quote.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I think one of the biggest problems I have with ordering Dell is how the quote is done. That thing comes in with something like 50 lines and it includes stupid entries like the Intel Pentium sticker. It makes it really difficult to verify the quote is correct when you have to sift through all that needless junk. And where the quote is overly detailed in some aspects, it’s vague in others, for example: 500GB hybrid drive. Well is that a 5400rpm hybrid, or a 7200 rpm hybrid as that is a big difference.

For me, I had a Dell support ticket open for a brand new server…

Had gone through lots of troubleshooting, the way you do… and they determined hardware failure and were going to swap it out. All good!

Except that he asks me to tell him what network card is in the machine.

Now, they have the service tag, they created the quote, the config is on their web site… surely it’s a simple case of entering the service tag and looking at the initial config? NOOOO! He makes ME go through their crappy list of what the hardware is, trying to determine exactly what hardware is in the machine.

I used to deal with Dell directly and when I call their 1800 hotline, it goes to their office in Penang, Malaysia…, and the experience wasn’t so bad. But I am in Asia, not sure how Dell works in US

I am afraid to say you used the banned 4 letter word in our office D E L L so there lies the route of all your problems lol
