Hello,

I brought a HPE Microserver gen10, what you suggest for virtualization on this hardware (Hypervisor), I would like some free solution, at the moment I had installed on it Clearvm, but I don’t like the customization for the VM’s.

Thanks in advance.

VMware free version would be fine

Proxmox is also a good choice

For a single box you can’t do vMotion etc either way so I guess ESXi is a way to go, the most mature hypervisor. Xen is missing the boat, KVM isn’t there in terms of third-party software support, while Hyper-V has own issues. If you don’t care - go VMware!

Thanks for the suggestions I just installed esxi 6.5

Vmware esxi only the free version will be apply , ore you go witj kvm.

Not sure about kvm …

What about hyper v?

Lacks a nice management UI (HTML5 vs. PowerCLI, Perfmon and other fragmented tools?)

MSFT is trying to fix it bringing in something called “Project Honolulu”. Bad news are: It’s not clear will it work with a free version of Hyper-V after release or not…

From what I’ve seen in the business spaces around me are VMware or Hyper-V; For the Linux side I used to recommend Xenserver but the recent changes feel to be headed in the wrong direction so KVM (which I had deployed before Xenserver) is very good

Their general attitude is “Let the free users learn powershell”.
