I wake up this morning to two messages from our 3PAR about bad drives. Two separate ones and in two different cages. When I get in I have a message from the head of our other location that the trust relationship between the domain and her PC has been lost and then while I am working on that a lady comes to my cube and says they can’t make outgoing calls.
Resolution #1 - I call HP to schedule the tech to replace the drives and it will be after lunch because the drives have not made it to the tech yet.
Resolution #2 - Turns out the PC issue ended up that the person was not being patient after the Windows Updates and turned off the PC before they were done. Thank goodness for System Restore and now I am in the process of reinstalling the updates.
Resolution #3 - After testing different call scenarios it is only outbound calls not working. So I reboot the phone switches and that does not fix the issue. We reboot the PRI switch and that does not fix the issue. We try calling another external number and after waiting 15-20 seconds the call finally goes through. So we test other numbers, some work fine some are delayed. Turns out the delayed calls are all to phones in Verizon’s purview.
I sure hope nothing else happens today because that was more drama than anyone needs on a Friday.

Resolution 2: Users. This is actually why I tell my users to log out but leave their PCs on at night. Then they’re not around to get impatient.

Sounds like Murphy’s Law!! Typical on a Friday. I used to suffer from the ‘oh we need this for our service tomorrow’ at lunch time on a Friday.
