Just had a great start to my Friday.
I had a remote user complaining of this computer freezing up constantly this week. Said it would freeze and he would have to hard shutdown and power back up. It would freeze randomly on him.
Yesterday I remoted into his computer to see if anything pops out as the culprit. Event viewer did not show anything, I turned off a few useless items in MSCONFIG and did some general cleanup and updates.
Didn’t hear anything else from the user for the rest of the day.
Today I come in and one of his coworkers emails me saying that the user had many freeze ups already today, can’t work and is cussing like crazy. He tells me the computer is frozen at this moment if I want to remote in and take a look.
So I do, I connect, but the strange thing is, it’s responsive to me. I can open/close windows, go to the internet. So I pick up the phone and call them.
The co-worker who emailed me picked up the phone and the conversation goes like this:
Me: So I am connected to the computer, it is responsive to me. I can open and close and look; I am hitting the internet no problem.
Co-Worker: Yeah, but he is trying and it’s frozen, it’s not responding to us.
Me: Okay, but do you guys see the screen? Do you see me moving things around? I am currently on the computer and it is working perfectly for me.
Co-Worker: Yes, we see you doing things…it’s just not working for us…hold up, wait a minute
Minute Goes By…
Co-Worker: We got it…
Me: Go on…what was it?
Co-Worker: His mouse…
We were almost crying from laughter. I actually wish I was at the remote site to witness this.
TGIF!
