Whoever has the most points at the end rules the world… at least that’s what I was told.

It just shows activity in the community. Also, for the first level it limits what you are allowed to do. This help keep spammers out.

It’s just kinda a fun thing to collect and a good way to gauge how active a community member is when they’re responding in a topic. :]

Members in Spiceworks are categorized by “pepper level.” The more you participate, the more points you accumulate, and the higher your pepper level! Points are given for posting topics, replying to topics, providing best answers and helpful posts, posting how-tos, writing product reviews, and lots of other stuff.

Pimientos are somewhat restricted in their activities, as we try to first make sure that someone isn’t just a bot, a spammer, or a non-IT pro (aka home user). Pro-tip, filling out your profile gives 100 points and gets you to the next level .

Needless to say, SpiceHeads are often very proud when they reach the next pepper level and they want to share the news with their fellow IT pros. Understandable! So we created a thread just for this purpose – the Official “ I made the next pepper level ” thread. It’s been going strong since 2011!

Once someone reaches Thai pepper or above, they are also considered a “Spicy Pepper” (you’ll hear reference to that from time to time).

One thing I like to point out is that, while you get more points for quality content, people also get points for other things. So I generally look at someone’s pepper level to see how engaged they are in the Community and do a deeper dive to see where their expertise(s) are.

If you want to know what all the levels are, you can find them here:
