This is part of the Spiceworks Community field-guide.

Points & Levels: How hot can you get?

Members in Spiceworks are categorized by Spiceworks Levels, sometimes referred to as ‘Pepper Levels’. The more you participate, the more points you accumulate, and the higher your pepper level! Points are given for providing best answers, posting how-tos, writing scripts, and lots of other stuff.

If you’re just now starting out, you may still be a Pimiento. Pimientos are somewhat restricted in their activities, as our community team has to first make sure that you’re not just a bot, a spammer, or a non-pro home user. But once you really start participating, you won’t be a Pimiento for long.

Needless to say, members are often very proud when they reach the next pepper level and they want to share the news with their fellow IT pros. Understandable! So we created a thread just for this purpose – the Official “I made the next pepper level!” topic. It’s been going strong since 2011!

Once you reach Thai Pepper, you automatically belong to a special group called “Spicy Peppers.” This group is often thought of as being the veterans of the community, due to not just their length of time in the Spiceworks Community, but also their high degree of participation.

But Spicy Peppers isn’t the last bar to reach. The “Pure Capsaicin” is the highest level of engagement we have here in the Spiceworks Community! It’s an achievement only a handful of members have achieved and this is because it takes commitment, tenacity, drive, determination, IT intelligence and, most of all, a genuine desire to help their peers to reach the required 250,000 points it takes to reach such a level.

Earning Points

Curious as what you can do to earn points towards your score? The best way, of course, is helping out members with a question and earning a “Best Answer” as this awards the most points (and feels good to help others!). But, that is not the only way. You can also earn points by engaging in conversations and getting your posts “spiced up.” Just remember, it’s about the quality, not the quantity.

This post goes a bit more into it as we transitioned from the vintage platform to our latest one: Some Changes to the Spice Points System

I’m just curious if the point allotments have changed in the new community. I have been a little confused by this, and the info isnt part of this page.

Thanks, @Sean-Spiceworks

It was so much easier in the previous but at least we can track it down now

There have definitely been some changes, though. For example, some things that previously gave points don’t exist in the new platform.

It is on our task list to update the above with a bit more details. That said, at the end of the day, we’re going to prioritize helpful and quality content over everything else. So if you’re looking to get the most points, its about engaging and helping people solve their questions.

Thanks! I figured I was getting closer to the next spice level but wasn’t sure what the bounds were. Looks like I am slowly inching towards Datil. That will be a momentous day. I don’t have a hope of reaching PC.

I was thinking I would be lucky to hit TP!

I am on the leaderboard page - is there a way to “jump to my position”?
Scrolling is going to be too slow…

Are ya’ll going to bring back pepper points for surveys?

9 Spice ups

We are… but not sure exactly when yet.

I am a new user in the Spiceworks community but have used it to fix issues in the past. Signed up to keep learning more but to also try to help others solve issues.

That would be useful. At the moment, I just hit End on my keyboard, and then page up. But reasonably soon, it’s going to take a bit more effort.

Joining as community member is great decision that I made on Last November 2024. I am now 6th level on Spiceworks.
