Any idea when the new Intel Core Ultra 200 series business laptops are coming out? Looking to refresh company laptops and both Dell and HP do not have business laptops with these processors yet. They are both still on the Intel Ultra 100 series, which is more than a year old at this point.

I asked laptop manufacturers when they would be getting business laptops with the Intel Core Ultra 200 processors, 2 months ago. They said soon, but did not have a specific timeframe. It’s been two months and they still dont have them.

We need fast processors and have been waiting on purchasing laptops.

Due to pricing uncertainty, I would guess that they’re waiting until they can understand costs, before starting to import the new chips/systems.

Dell and HP are expected to start shipping between May and July.

If you can’t wait, the older models are still good specs. It’s not like these are generations ahead.

You’re right Rod, in regard to the 200U model they are around 15% faster overall, although the 200H model is incredibly faster, upwards of 60%.

Do you have any articles for this, and 60% compared to what, the previous gen CPU? Or is this specifically talking about in AI or the likes?

I’ve read a few. Here’s one I found now. Double performance in general applications.

Quote:
“The short answer: Intel blows away its previous “Lunar Lake” chips, the Core Ultra 200V. The new Core Ultra 200H chips essentially double the performance in general applications thanks to a ton of additional cores. But, hampered by its lack of a modern NPU, Intel is forced to mumble and kick the ground when it comes to talking about AI.”

Yeah, you’re not alone. A lot of IT teams are in the same spot waiting on the Ultra 200 series for business models. Intel officially announced them, but OEMs like Dell and HP usually lag a bit behind on rolling them out to their commercial lines. Consumer laptops tend to get the newest chips first since those SKUs are easier to push out fast.

From what I’ve heard, most major vendors are aiming for mid to late Q2, maybe bleeding into Q3 depending on region and configuration. It’s possible they’re waiting to align with bulk enterprise rollouts or preloading specific enterprise firmware and security features.

If you’re on a tight timeline, might be worth considering higher-end Ultra 100 models or Ryzen Pro 8000 series as a stopgap. Otherwise, could be another few weeks, maybe a month or two tops. I’d poke your rep again if you haven’t already. Sometimes they’ll have early access units or internal timelines they can share off the record.

Intel has not officially announced a release date for business laptops with Core Ultra 200 series processors yet. Manufacturers like Dell and HP are likely waiting on final availability and validation. While “soon” was the previous guidance it is possible delays in production or platform readiness are causing the holdup. For now, the best option may be to contact your vendor rep directly for the most accurate timeline or consider interim solutions if performance needs are urgent.

Shortly after posting, a Dell salesman reached out to me. I found out Dell DOES have the newer processors in business laptops. Although Dell discontinued the Latitude line of laptops and rebranded them as “Dell Pro”. I must have missed the memo. When browsing Latitude laptops, they only contain older tech as they are now discontinued.
