GoDaddy chained certs are really cheap, that’s what I use. RapidSSL is pretty expensive.
Firstly, that’s a terribly written article. It’s also loaded with clickbait.
SSL is SSL - provided they’re valid certificates and they come from a recognised third party, you shouldn’t have to worry.
All you need to balance up is price vs. features vs. brand recognition. GoDaddy, RapidSSL & Geotrust crop up everywhere because of their value for money and ease of deployment, but Symantec bought the VeriSign brand & are making a big mind-share push into eCommerce via their EV certificates.

For personal certs, StartCom issues certs free of charge and are seen as a trusted CA in Windows.

Having just ran through this for our SSL with EV we used GeoTrust more expensive but gives that extra bit of confidence that i did not get from the other when shopping around thank god i only have to do that every two years though
Personally I reccomend GlobalSign. They’ve been around since 1996, sell all kinds of certs and they’re a lot cheaper than VeriSign or Thawte. Their customer service is also very good.

Hello.
I use Comodo’s SSL. Their support is very fast.
I like Digicert.com. Great support, and reasonable pricing.
We use both comodo as well as digicert and I have to say I would definitely recommend Digiticert. Their support is awesome. When you call, you don’t go through a bunch of automated prompts. You get a live person very quickly and they have always been extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I have had a really bad experience with Comodo. We’ll probably move our remaining certs to digicert as a result. my 2 cents.
I agree with 3 steps up… I use comodo’s 256bit AES, it’s pretty good and fast for my app…
