Has anyone been able to get this to work?

Client has a Xerox WorkCentre 6605DN, brand new. Firmware is current, but we cannot get it to connect to Office 365 to send e-mail, specifically for the Scan to email function.

Client does not have an on-premise Exchange server.

Xerox documentation is extremely patchy on Setting up scan to e-mail, and does not cover Office 365.

As far as we can tell, all the settings (SMTP Server, Port, TSL etc) are correct, and yet it does not connect.

Appealing to all Spiceheads for assistance!

We have several Toshiba Printers and had trouble with this as well when we converted to outlook online. The final answer for us, and not the best security wise, was to set up an open relay on the outlook online exchange server.

Might be the way to go - have found this:

Try sending via your ISP’s SMTP server as a relay - provided that your ISP allows sending from your IP address on their network. Worked for one of our customers.

These are the settings I used for 4 copiers here. no Relay needed, send directly to Office 365. Now here’s the tricky part…had to call Microsoft and have them UNBLOCK our public IP range. …once they did that everything was just perfect.

No authentication needed on your side, according to MS, they said the authentication comes from the sender’s email. So if you are sending a scan from copier@yourcompany.com and “copier” isn’t an actual user…then it will fail. However in testing this, I have successfully made this work by simply using a distro group that we created.

Hope this helps.

Also, this is from a

TOSHIBA e-STUDIO3040C

Good luck. All in all - Once I called MS, they saw talked to a Tier 2 or 3 guy and they seen that it was being blocked. That basically fixed our issues.

From 365 Manager

Choose exchange

Choose mail flow

We setup all the printers the same way as Gadget6660. No need to authenticate that way and can be used for other devices as well.

The details are on the MS site at How to set up a multifunction device or application to send emails using Microsoft 365 or Office 365 | Microsoft Learn . Took a bit of working out but works great for all our MF devices, Toshiba and Fuji.

Normally you need a relay.

Make sure to authenticate and use port 587 (TLS)

Relay. I think you dont want to create a dedicated one then you would need to open the default to anonymous IIRC but then that has a whole world of security concerns.

Thanks, all, for your suggestions and help. Relaying away…

I just came across the same issue. Tried out several SMTP servers and different settings, nothing worked. At least that was what I thought.

Turned out that scan-to-email worked just fine with all servers, it was just the message in the Xerox configuration tool (“not connected”) that got me confused.

I talked to Xerox tech support and they told me that message only changes to “connected” once you have scanned and e-mailed at least once. I tried that and lo and behold, it works!!!

What PDF?
